Whatever one does, one should do it with confidence. If one has no confidence, there is little possibility that one would ever achieve anything, especially when one

is faced with drawbacks or hardships. This truth seems to be evident. However, in reality we do see a lot of people who complain that they like the ability to do something or that their difficulties are too great to be overcome. For someone, this might be true. But for many others, this only shows that they have lost heart.

Why do people often feel frustrated even though they are capable of doing something? There are, among others, two main reasons. First, these people do have a correct estimate of themselves. Second, they overestimate the difficulties.

It is possible to build up faith in oneself by having the right attitude towards one’s abilities. We should never underestimate one’s abilities. But believe in the proverb: “Where there is a will, there is a way.” Confidence is the promise for fulfilling a task successfully.

A young American entered a British train

A young American entered a railway compartment on a British train, to discover that all seats were occupied, Including one on which was seated a small dog. To its owner, a middle-aged lady wearing a large hat, he said politely,“Excuse me, ma'am, but may I sit down?”She said nothing, but merely sniffed and turned over the pages of her n he said,“Excuse me, ma'am, but may I have this seat, please? And again she ignored a third time the young American said,“Ma'am, would you please remove your dog so that I may sit down?”

And for the third time the snooty matron totally ignored him, so he opened a window, picked up the dog, threw it out, and then sat on the empty seat.

There was a stunned silence, and then an Englishman sitting opposite said,“You know, you Yanks are the strangest people. You drive on the wrong side of the road. You eat with the fork in the wrong hand, you name the floors in the wrong numbers, and now you've just thrown the wrong bitch out of the window!”

二ronmental Protection

No one, regardless of race, religion or nationality, can deny that the world we live in is becoming increasingly intolerable because of the effects of global warming. According to many experts, even greater impacts are still on the e are numerous causes for this problem. On one hand, human-related emissions of carbon into the atmosphere is causing, and will in the future cause, significant global warming according to the theory. On the other hand, the lack of knowledge about the importance of protecting environment hinders the solving of the is urgent that immediate and effective actions should be taken right away. First, more trees need to be planted to help improve and beautify the environment. Besides, stricter laws concerning global warming and irresponsible use of fuel resources have to be put into effect and achieved good results. In a word, there is a long way to go before we can take a comfortable world for granted again .

三 prejudice of the guide

In 1861 the Civil War started in the United States between the Northern and the Southern states. The war continued with great bitterness until 1865,when the Northerners were victorious. However, even today, many Southerners have not forgotten their defeat, or forgiven the Northerners.A few years ago, a party of American tourists were going round one of the battlefields of the Civil War with a guide who came from one of the Southern states. At each place, the guide told the tourists stirring stories about how a few Southern soldiers had conquered powerful forces of Northerners last, one of the tourists, a lady who came from the North, stopped the guide and said to him,“But surely the Northern army must have won at least one victory in the Civil War?”“Not as long as I'm the guide here, madam,”answered the Southern guide.

Good afternoon,ladies and gentlemen!

I’m very honored to stand here and give you a short speech! To begin with ,I want to ask a question everybody dream a good dream last night? Actually ,today I want to talk about dream with you. Of course, What I want to talk is not a dream you have last night, but a dream—— about life.

Everyone has dreams about life, different dreams at different life stage, and

we need dreams to support us. Dreams are like the stars we never reach in the sky,but like most mariners,we can chart our course by them. With the dream,we have a direction, with a direction, we were no longer the dream, there is hope,With hope, we have the strength to fight.

I have a dream: To be a doctor.,because doctor may relieve the pain of patients. May let the human change the health. At the same time, I believed that, those who help others may be able to obtain joyfully. Therefore, I hoped in the near future ,I might be a doctor.

But I know, life is tough, and there are always ups and downs, maybe we fail in the way to our aims, and we may feel depressed ,whenever at this time, the dream in our heart can always comfort us, encourage us ,and support us to move ahead .

Young!Fortunately, I am young now.

Just due to it, I know that nothing is firmly believe that nothing can stand in my way. If I can’t realize my dream,it result from that I haven’t work harder enough and I won’t find other excuses. If no people believe you, you can make it to prove that you are right. If you think the god haven’t blessed you and there is no truth here, you can become the god and create the truth.

”My breath swallows the sky and make the yellow river overflow, my sword is famous in Kyushu and it can collapse the five sacred mountains.” At some time in the past I also had am bitious words and I had some achievements. Each achievement results from my hard work. I always believe that “If you want to have more achievements than others, you must work harder.” In some extent, the dream is the hope. If you can insist on doing something, the victory will come.

Hold fast to dreams, for if dreams die, life is a broken-winged bird that cannot fly. Hold fast to dreams, for when dreams go, life is a barren field frozen with snow. So my dear friends, think of your old and maybe dead dreams. Whatever it is, pick it up and make it alive from today. Let’s—— move——out!

Thank you for your listening!

Innovation Hello, ladies and gentlemen. It’s great to be here. First of all, thanks for your coming. Tonight, what I am gonna talk about is innovation. Who can tell me what is innovation? We all know that, since 1978, China has been through the greatest changes brought by the reform and opening-up. So what we can see from the reform and opening-up? The power of innovation. That’s why I am here. I am here to show you my Chinese dream. I want to talk about the future and how we're going to win it. If we want to make innovation. But firstly, we should make sure that China is a place where we can make it if we try, where we can go as far as hard work and big dreams will take us.

We understand that it’s not going to be a cakewalk, this competition for the future, which means all of us are going to have to do our best. We are going to have to win the future by being smarter and working harder and working together. Innovation is the spirit of our country, the motive force for our country’s prosperity. Sparking the imagination and creativity of our people, unleashing new discoveries -- that's what China will do better than any other country on Earth. From the moment we have a new idea, we can explore it; we can develop it with a research grant; we can protect it with a patent; we can market it with a loan to start a new business.

We’ve got a chain that takes a great idea all the way through. We must be confirmed that, today, the challenges we face are real. They are serious they are many. They will not be met easily or in a short span of time. But we will somehow find a way to overcome the difficulties. My major is XXX. My job is to discover or create new drugs for many diseases like cancer. You know that laboratory is the place where miracles happen. Believe it or not. What I do can save millions of people’s lives. For a long time, what challenges me is how to commercialize research.

You come up with a great idea, but moving that new discovery from theory to practice or from the lab to the marketplace, that's re ally a big job. That’s what we should focus on. We need to act with a sense of urgency-to study and work and create as if the fate of the country depends on us-because it does. It depends on us. Thank you!

love your mother

why are you crying, a young boy asked his mom?

"because i'm a woman," she told him.

"i don't understand," he said.

his mom just hugged him and said,

"and you never will, but that's o.k.".......

later the little boy asked his father,

"why does mom seem to cry for no reason?".

"all women cry for no reason," was all his dad could say......

the little boy grew up and became a man,

still wondering why women cry.

finally he put in a call to god and when god got back to him, he asked "god, why do women cry so easily?"

god answered......

"when i made woman,

i decided she had to be special.

i made her shoulders

strong enough to carry

the weight of the world, yet,

made her arms gentle enough to give comfort...

i gave her the inner strength

to endure childbirth

and the rejection

that many times will come

even from her own children.

i gave her a hardness

that allows her

to keep going and take care

of her family and friends,

even when everyone else gives up, through sickness and fatigue without

complaining....

i gave her the sensitivity to love her children under any and all circumstances. even when her child has hurt her badly....

she has the very special power to make a child's boo-boo feel better and to quell a teenager's anxieties and fears....

i gave her strength to care for her husband, despite faults

and i fashioned her from his rib to protect his heart....

i gave her wisdom to know that a good husband never hurts his wife, but sometimes tests her strengths and her resolve to stand beside him unfalteringly....

The obscenity of apartheid came to an end. A young generation in Belfast and London have grown up without ever having to think about IRA bombs. In just the past 16 years, we’ve come from a world without marriage equality to one where it’s a reality in nearly two dozen countries. Around the world, more people live in democracies. We’ve lifted more than 1 billion people from extreme poverty. We’ve cut the child mortality rate worldwide by more than half.

America is better. The world is better. And stay with me now – race relations are better since I graduated. That’s the truth. No, my election did not create a post-racial society. I don’t know who was propagating that notion. That was not mine. But the election itself – and the subsequent one – because the first one, folks might have made a mistake. (Laughter.) The second one, they knew what they were getting. The election itself was just one indicator of how attitudes had changed.

“Once upon a time, there was a king who had a daughter as beautiful as a blooming rose. To all the suitors who came to the king's palace to ask for the hand of the princess, the old king assigned three tasks to be accomplished, each next to impossible. One day, into the king's palace came a handsome young prince…" Well, you know the rest. The three tasks may be different in different versions, but the main plot is always the same, with the prince claiming the princess's hand triumphantly.

And the ending is always the same, finishing with the line "And they live happily every after."

Why aren't we tired of something so fanciful, so unrealistic, and, I would say, so unimaginative? How can a story like that endure generations of repetition`? Because, I think, it is a typical success story. It is highly philosophical and symbolic. By implication, we see a 4-step definition of success: 1 ) a goal to be set. as represented by the beautiful princess; 2 ) challenges to be met, as represented by the three tasks; 3 ) the process of surmounting difficulties, as represented by the ordeals the youth goes through; and 4 ) the reward of success, as represented by the happy marriage.

The story not only caters to everyone's inward yearning for success, but also emphasizes the inseparability of the process and the result. The reward of success will be much amplified if the path leading towards it is treacherous, and vice versa. If a person inherits his father's millions and leads an easy life, he is not a successful person even in material terms, because there are no difficulties involved in his achieving affluence. The term "success", to be sure. will not sit still for easy definition. But as I understand it, the true meaning of success entails a combination of both the process and the satisfactory result of an endeavor. To clarify my view, let me give another analogy.

If we changed the rules of football, greatly enlarged the goal and sent away David Seaman or any other goal keeper, so that another David, namely David Beckham, could score easily, then scoring would not give him the thrill of accomplishment and the joy that it brings. If we further changed the rules by not allowing Arsenal's defenders to defend, so that Beckham needed only to lift a finger, actually a toe, to score, then there would be no game at all, because the meaning of winning would have disappeared. In accepting the challenge, in surmounting the difficulties and in enduring the hardship, success acquires its value. The sense of attainment varies in proportion to the degree of difficulties on overcomes.

The concept of success is not constant but relative because the nature of difficulty is also relative. Something you do effortlessly might pose a great difficulty for a handicapped person. In acquiring the ability to do the same as you can, he or she achieve success. That's why we greatly admire Stephen Hawking, because, though confined to a wheel chair, he has contributed greatly to the field of science.

Dear teacher and classmates:

I am very glad to make a speech here in this class again! This time, I/#39;d like to talk something about English.

I love English. English language is now used everywhere in the world. It has become the most common language on Internet and for international trade. Learning English makes me confident and brings me great pleasure.

When I was seven, my mother sent me to an English school. At there, I played games and sang English songs with other children . Then I discovered the beauty of the language, and began my colorful dream in the English world.

Everyday, I read English following the tapes. Sometimes, I watch English cartoons.

On the weekend, I often go to the English corner. By talking with different people there, I have made more and more friends as well as improved my oral English.

I hope I can travel around the world someday. I want to go to America to visit Washington Monument, because the president Washington is my idol. Of course, I want to go to London too, because England is where English language developed. If I can ride my bike in Cambridge university, I will be very happy.

I hope I can speak English with everyone in the world. I/#39;ll introduce China to them, such as the Great Wall, the Forbidden City and Anshan. I know, Rome was not built in a day. I believe that after continuous hard study, one day I can speak English very well.

If you want to be loved, you should learn to love and be lovable. So I believe as I love English everyday , it will love me too.

Honorable Judges, fellow students:

Good afternoon!

Recently, there is a heated debate in our society. The college students are the beneficiaries of a rare privilege, who receive exceptional education at extraordinary places. But will we be able to face the challenge and support ourselves against all odds? Will we be able to better the lives of others? Will we be able to accept the responsibility of building the future of our country?

The cynics say the college students are the pampered lost generation, which would cringe at the slightest discomfort. But the cynics are wrong. The college students I see are eagerly learning about how to live independently. We help each other clean the dormitory, go shopping and bargain together, and take part time jobs to supplement our pocket money.

The cynics say we care for nothing other than grades; and we neglect the need for character cultivation. But again, the cynics are wrong. We care deeply for each other, we cherish freedom, we treasure justice, and we seek truth.

Last week, thousands of my fellow students had their blood type tested in order to make a contribution for the children who suffer from blood cancer.

As college students, we are adolescents at the critical turning point in our lives. We all face a fundamental choice: cynicism or faith, each will profoundly impact our future, or even the future of our country. I believe in all my fellow classmates. Though we are still inexperienced and even a little bit childish.

I believe that we have the courage and faith to meet any challenge and take on our responsibilities. We are preparing to assume new responsibilities and tasks, and to use the education we have received to make our world a better place. I believe in our future.

School begins, I changed from the fourth grade to the fifth grade now. In the eyes of young students, I'm already a big brother, and I'm also a good example for junior students. I want to give full play to my advantages and leave them a good impression. First of all, I have to change my characters. Although my handwriting is OK, it's a little bit "lopsided"。 I must change it when it's not serious.

I also need to learn how to save. Although the covers we use for wrapping books are getting old, they can be recycled. However, there are still some people who have enough old book covers at home and urge their mother to buy a new one. There are also some people in order to save newspapers or already useless posters wrapped in the cover, and then write XX books. I advocate this practice, which saves parents' or their own money and is durable. There are also stationery, some people clearly have pens at home, but also go outside to buy some back. You know, it's a lot cheaper to use the old one than to buy the new one. Although I am the same, but I will try my best to correct it, because I know that the money of my parents is hard won, and the money is earned by their sweat and labor. Usually we ask our parents for money when we are free, so 1 yuan, 2 yuan, 5 yuan. As time goes by, don't our parents spend all the money they earn from their hard work? Isn't the money parents have made over the years in vain? We should try to spend less of our parents' money.

From now on, I will do a little bit of things around me, students have difficulties to help him as much as possible, strive to be the three good students of this semester.

people are like tea bags—you have to put them in hot water before you know how strong they are." i can still remember the words that dad said to me years ago.

when i was young, i used to be very naughty. life then was like a glaball ,shining with bright colours. i had once gone down to the river bank, catching a great many worms and was afterwards punished by mum. i had ever cut the pillow towel into pieces in order to make clothes for my dolls. similarly, i was then blamed seriously. once i even put the hot iron on the floor which immediately burnt a big hole on the carpet. although i had done so many annoying things, my childhood seemed to be rather colourful. however, i had never had a clear definition about myself. but then something happened. it had made a great difference to my life and made who i am now.

i had always been afraid of having the intravenous drop in hospital. the first time i was taken to have the drop, i cried for almost half an hour and finally gave off at father's severe scolding. watching the cold needle stabbing into my skin, i cried even more loudly. at that time, i never dared to take a glance at my hand and always needed my mother to stay with me at my side. even if mum had told me many times," honey, there’s nothing to be scared of. just close your eyes and sleep." i would still keep my eyes wide open, watching the liquid flow through the bottle and never slept.

nevertheless, things just happened in a casual way. when i caught a high fever again when young, mum had to send for the doctor home to treat me. i was so sick that i became quite drowsy and then slept. when i suddenly woke up in the afternoon, i found the liquid in the bottle had already flown over ,while mum and dad were not around. i yelled, but finally found it was of no use. so i jumped out of the bed and pulled up the tubule. in the nature of things, the blood came out and dropped along the way i went downstairs. things became different at the time i went down alone. i discovered that i could be independent. i was much stronger than i had thought. looking back on the girl who cried all day, i came to understand suddenly that the strong part of the inner myself had been existing all the time. seeing the anxious mum, i revealed a big smile to her. i could see that mum was trying to hold her tears back and scrubbed my blood on the hand. she didn't know that her little girl had stealthily grown up.

since then, i became stronger. as you see now, standing in front of you is a confident and sunny girl. in my grown-up life, i've never cried for being injured no matter how serious it is. i can even go to the hospital alone when mum and dad are on business. i came acroso many difficulties in life, while i've never thought of giving up. thanks to that extraordinary experience at my age of ten, i discovered a person inside myself who has been so important and unique to me. just like what dad had told me before, "people are like tea bags—you have to put them in hot water before you know how strong they are."
