whether引導的條件從句

whether：對於某件事情的不確定性，表示的懷疑。

whether

1. (引導名詞從句)是否

Ask him whether he can come or not.問問他是否能來。

I don't know whether you like flowers, sir.

先生,我不知道您是否喜歡花。

2. (與or連用,引導狀語從句)不管是...(或是)

We'll go on with the work, whether we can find the necessary tools or not.

不管我們能否找到所需的工具,我們要把這件工作做下去。

在引導定語從句時，一般情況下whether和if都可使用，但whether的適用範圍要比if廣，實在不知道應用什麼的時候，選whether。

例如從句若出現了選擇項：A or B，只能用whether而不能用if

但要注意，從句為否定句時，只能用if，而不能用whether

一、在英語句子中，whether和if本身有意義(都表示“是否”)，在從句中不可省略。它們的區別最主要的就是：whether 可以引導所有的.名詞性從句，而if只能引導賓語從句。例如：

1. I didn't know whether he would attend the concert.

我並不知道他是否會參加音樂會。(賓語從句可用if代替whether)

2. The question is whether it's worth trying.

問題是值不值得一試。(表語從句，不能用if代替whether)

3. Whether she comes or not makes no difference.

她來不來都沒有關係。(主語從句，不可用if代替whether)

他必須回答他是否同意。(同位語從句，不可用if代替whether)

whether引導的賓語從句可作介詞的賓語，而if則不能。

5. It all depends on whether they will support us.

這完全取決於他們是否支持我們。(不能用if)

二、if引導狀語從句，也可引導賓語從句。如果用if會引起歧義，應避免使用if，而用whether。

三、whether引導主語從句時，既可以直接位於句首，也可以位於句末;if引導主語從句時只能用於it作形式主語的從句中。例如：

1. Whether we need it is a different matter.

2. It is a different matter whether(if)we need it.

四、在賓語從句中，當表示“是否”時，whether與if可以互換，但如果從句中有or not 時只能用whether 引導。例如：

I don’t know whether he will come or not.

五、whether引導的從句可以充當介詞賓語，if則不行。

I worry about whether i hurt her feelings.

六、whether引導的從句可以作名詞的同位語，if則不行。

The question whether we need it has not been decided.

七、可能造成歧義時，用whether而不用if。

1. please let me know whether you are coming.

請告訴我你是否要來。(whether引導賓語從句)

2. please let me know if you are coming.

如果你要來，請告訴我。(if引導狀語從句)
